‘Gaultheria’ - Gold Aluminum Framed Original Botanical Art (9”x9”)
One of a kind original Winter botanical drawing in archival black micron pen and watercolor by Vivian Pang.
Featured here is ‘Gaultheria’ aka ‘Winterberry’ or ‘Checkerberry’ and or ‘Teaberry’. Part of the Ericaceae family and is found deep in woodlands beneath E. North America evergreens. They were established in Britain, in Scotland. Their blooms are white/pink bell-shaped flowers that blossom in early-late Summer. This evergreen shrub leafs all year and their seeds mature from Oct. to Dec. followed by nickel to quarter-size glossy red berries. As the season gets colder, their glossy green foliage turns from a deep merlot to a maroon color which is one of the main reasons why they’re my favorite for Winter decor. Here you can see the leaves start to transition.
